The Milwaukee Public Library leveraged a partnership with Make a Difference-Wisconsin to improve financial literacy among high school students
Key Activities:
- Collaborated with Make-a-Difference Wisconsin, Plum Moving Media, and the library’s own Teen Advisory Board to produce three high-quality videos on money management for teens. Milwaukee Public School students played a role in the productions:
- Incorporated these videos into financial literacy seminars for approximately 5,300 students at 64 high schools in Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha, delivered in partnership with Make a Difference Wisconsin, a nonprofit devoted to improving financial education for students in the state.
- Shared the videos for inclusion in an online economics and personal finance course offered by the Virginia Department of Education, in response to a statewide requirement that each student complete a course on economics and personal finance before graduation. The videos formed part of three lesson units: Banking Essentials, the Bottom Line on Borrowing, and Financial Planning. The high school course was made available to all Virginia districts.
